I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute.

Hi Nellie, You are right that is the way it is done. Have a Great Memorial Day Weekend. Thank you for your post.
Great post, thank you!
Thank you for a great post.. Most folks I have found have no basic clue about these things too many of us take for granted.. I will recommend and maybe repost tomorrow if no one else does..
Hi Nellie - my daughter lived on a military base, when they raise the flag, you stop if you are driving and wait, all military turn to where the flag is and salute. I think that is wonderful.
I'm wondering why these "ceremonies" with respect to our great country are disappearing...slowly but surely? Military bases not included, Virginia.
I don't have school-aged children any more, but I'll be asking around - do they even say the "Pledge" any more in school?
or ever learn the words to the National Anthem?!
It's Memorial Day weekend. Not just a time to go to the beach. .......
Nellie -- I like your last comment. Too many people think that Memorial Day is just a day off that kicks off the start of summer. They don't give much thought, if any, to the reason why we celebrate this day. Very sad.....
