Nellie:  I think the recent "pronouncements" on breast cancer screenings and getting mammograms is just crazy.  How in the world can ideas like this be justified ?  It made me very angry when I first heard their recommendations... and even angrier the more I thought about it.

If costs need to be cut, let men pay for their OWN Viagra, and take the savings and spend it on women's health care.

It's stupid.  They caught my sister's breast cancer eraly enough thanks to screening.  She was in her early 50's.  I think it is just a way to start cutting back on care.

I rarely watch or listen to the talking heads on the tube, but while in a customer's house, I heard one of them state that mammograms only needed to be done every 2 years instead of the annual screening. It went on to say that high risk women need to get the screening done every year. I wonder if this is because of pressure from the insurance companies...

This makes me crazy. For years they advocated annual screenings and now that they have to pay for it they want to start planting seeds of thought in people not to use it... That whomps. Some companies are going to drop health care coverage because the fine is cheaper than maintaining the insurance accounts on employees. As a retired government worker I keep thinking this is dangerous. They cut our $12.5K annual annuity payment they promised to make when I retired from a dangerous and physically taxing job because the stock market is "doing bad." We get a letter stating we're not getting out variable supplement because they would rather hang onto what's left in the fund than make a payout. Now I dread it may only be a matter of time before we may be getting a health care cut letter...

Did you guys know that I was told several weeks ago regarding a dexa-scan (bone density) - the cost at a local hospital would be reduced by 50% IF I DID NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE AND PAID DAY OF SERVICE...vs. if I HAD health insurance = full price???  This system is broken.

My personal experience over the last 9 years will be posted soon...as soon as I can post rationally!

You all have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.  Remember to be thankful for all the "normal" stuff....smelling the wonderful Fall air, babies crying anywhere, bonfire in the back yard, sirens soaring in front of your house...etc.

Let someone in traffic tomorrow with a smile; open a door for the person behind you; pay the toll on the turnpike for the car behind you; etc.  Pay it forward ... do something nice without any expectations.
