The NC State Fair has been around for a long time! I attended yesterday - an absolutely beautiful Fall day! Many hours of enjoying the sites and sounds of the NC State Fair, but the highlight in my mind is the food! Corn dogs, roasted corn, smoked turkey legs, cotton candy, fried pies, ham biscuits...
In 1916 – Cary United Methodist Church served their first ham biscuit at the NC State Fair ! And they still serve up some of the best ham biscuits that you've ever tasted, right alongside Apex Lions Club. For years there were "barkers" and they tried to out-do each other enticing fair-goers into their great fair restaurants. You can hear the great voice from Apex Lions Club this week, especially describing their wonderful piiiies!
But I'm not sure about Deep fried Twinkies & Oreos, chocolate covered bacon. The official blog of the NC State Fair is Deep Fried @ the NC State Fair . That tells you something!
I hope you have the chance to go to a State Fair this year - just be sure to eat lots of healthy veges & fruits for several weeks to make up for what you eat while you're there!
